37. Easter tradition in Europe

Easter is a Christian festival and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Many traditional games and customs have developed. One of them is egg tapping (or egg knocking or egg fight).

Another custom is egg decorating

In Germany they hang eggs with strings from tree branches!

As well as decorating eggs it is customary in sections of Northwestern Europe ( Denmark, parts of Sweden, Finland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands) on Good Saturday and Easter Sunday to light large fires (bonfires) at dusk.

In Greece, Good Friday is the most sacred day of the Holy Week, the day of the culmination of the passion of Christ. Women and children go to church to decorate the Epitaph (Bier of Christ) with flowers and in the evening the Epitaph procession takes place.

On the same day, it is customary in some places in Greece and Cyprus for a small doll representing Judas Iscariot to be burnt.

I am very happy I still get to hear from you. I hope you're having a good time in High School. This was a project with a specific purpose. I don't know if I can go on writing without you all working, learning and having a good time. It seems a bit of a monologue. I'll think about it :-)
