37. Easter tradition in Europe

Easter is a Christian festival and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Many traditional games and customs have developed. One of them is egg tapping (or egg knocking or egg fight).

Another custom is egg decorating

In Germany they hang eggs with strings from tree branches!

As well as decorating eggs it is customary in sections of Northwestern Europe ( Denmark, parts of Sweden, Finland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands) on Good Saturday and Easter Sunday to light large fires (bonfires) at dusk.

In Greece, Good Friday is the most sacred day of the Holy Week, the day of the culmination of the passion of Christ. Women and children go to church to decorate the Epitaph (Bier of Christ) with flowers and in the evening the Epitaph procession takes place.

On the same day, it is customary in some places in Greece and Cyprus for a small doll representing Judas Iscariot to be burnt.

36. I used to think.../Now, I think...

As the project came to an end we reflected on how our thinking has changed. Our thinking about Europe and the European Union as well as our thinking about working in the English classroom. Each text has a unique value and helps us move a step forward as individuals and as a group!

35. Our Learning Journals

Throughout the project we kept diaries (or even better learning journals). We wrote about our meetings, reflected on what we had learnt and done. Here are some beautiful extracts!
